COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT A-Rod Corp is dedicated to helping communities where our ideas, people, and resources can make a difference. Philanthropy is a commitment shared by our founder, Alex Rodriguez, who is actively involved in contributing to several organizations across the globe.

University of Miami

A-Rod Corp has been actively involved with the University of Miami over the last few decades. In 2003, A-Rod Corp donated $4 million toward renovation efforts of the university’s baseball stadium – now named Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field. In addition, Mr. Rodriguez created a scholarship program for Boys and Girls Club alumnus to attend the University of Miami, sponsoring more than 25 students since inception of the program. In 2017, A-Rod Corp donated $500,000 to the University of Miami School of Business Administration.

Mr. Rodriguez also serves as a National Member on the Board of Trustees for the university.

Rodriguez attended the Boys and Girls Club (BGC) during his youth and has remained actively involved in the organization over the last several decades. Mr. Rodriguez serves on the Board of Directors for the Miami-Dade chapter. A-Rod Corp donated $1 million to Boy & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade in 2010, building a state-of-the-art educational center for students. In 2015, A-Rod Corp in conjunction with the MLB Urban Youth Foundation, donated $1 million to support the expansion of South Florida Clubs.

A-Rod Corp has been involved with several organizations benefiting a variety of groups, both domestically and internationally. In recent months, Mr. Rodriguez has helped raised over $54 million for the Robin Hood Foundation and has partnered with Kips Bay and Boys and Girls Club to raise funds for youth programs in Miami and New York City. In July 2017, Mr. Rodriguez partnered with Dream and NYC Parks to raise $1.5 million to build a recreational baseball field in the Bronx and personally donated $100,000 to the project.

In addition, Mr. Rodriguez has been actively involved in hurricane relief efforts benefitting Houston, Florida, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean.  Over the last several years, Mr. Rodriguez has participated in the annual BTIG Charity Day, which benefits charities supporting children worldwide.

The Alex Rodriguez Scholarship
at the University of Miami

Bypassing a collegiate experience and forgoing a scholarship to play football at the University of Miami, Alex Rodriguez went right from high school into the major leagues. For over 16 years, Alex has supported the college dreams of BGC alumni with scholarships at the University of Miami, which allow them to have the college experience he missed, but values greatly.

Alex has supported the college dreams of more than 25 BGC alumni who attend the University of Miami, where Alex serves as Board of Trustees member. Recipients hail from around the United States; yet regardless of where students call home, this scholarship program remains one of Alex’s most important contributions. It’s his way of “paying it forward” to the BGC for the impact they had on his life as a young child.

Alex Rodriguez First Generation
Scholarship Program, FIU

In 2015, 10 first-generation, college bound students at Florida International University (FIU) were chosen to receive The Alex Rodriguez First Generation Scholarship to attend school at FIU, one of Florida’s most prestigious public research schools. Alex provided a gift to FIU of $210,000, which when matched by the state of Florida, offered scholarships totaling $420,000.

An additional gift by Alex of $30,000 provides internship stipends for those same students. The gift is strategic because Alex knows that involvement in an internship program enables students to access experiences and form relationships with thought-leaders that would otherwise be out of reach. It also means students chances of landing a job sooner and making more money, are increased.  The Alex Rodriguez First Generation Scholarship program is designed to multiply Alex’s donations for the benefit of these first generation, college bound students.
