A-Rod Corp donated $1 million to Boy & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade in 2010, and an additional $1 million in 2015 in partnership with MLB to support the expansion of South Florida Clubs. Alex joined the board of Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade in 1999, and the board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 2020.
In 2002, Alex donated $3.9 million to help renovate the University of Miami’s baseball stadium, Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field, and to fund a scholarship program for Boys & Girls Clubs alumni to attend the University of Miami. He joined the school’s Board of Trustees in 2003. In 2017, Alex pledged $500,000 to the University of Miami Business School.
Alex’s gifts to Florida International University have provided scholarships to dozens of first generation college-bound students.
A-Rod Corp is a proud sponsor of the BE THE LIGHT foundation. Alex’s childhood friend JD Artega and wife Ysha started the Ari Arteaga Foundation in the summer of 2018 to honor the legacy of their late son, Ari. Be the Light Foundation grants scholarships to promising high school students who have also endured tragedy and wish to attend a private faith-based school but cannot afford to do so.
